On 14 May 2015,the FAME annual golf tournament unfolded another chapter to its celebrated decade achievement.
Held at the Palmer Course of the  Orchard Golf & Country Club in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, a field of 88 players representing FAME member and non-member manning companies, maritime associations, marine golf clubs, sponsors and guests competed for the 11th FAME Golf Invitational Tournament.

As early as the rising sun, the players arrived at the registration. But the early-bird participants got a better surprise as they scored tickets for a free breakfast treat – not bad of a consolation for that early wake up call.

Indeed, this year’s tournament was full of surprises. In fact, Capt. Tsutomu Harada of Grace Marine & Shipping Corp. bagged the three (3) major titles for the Fun Holes Awards (Longest Drive, Nearest to the Pin and Most Accurate Drive), a first in the history of FAME golf tournament. Mr. Jerricho N. Briones of Eaglestar Crewmanagement Corp./Parola Maritime Agency Corp. humbly received the title of  being a back-to-back Most Promising Player.

First-time joiners Mr. Andrew Aznar and Mr. Tata Callora, both from Headway Seacrest Group Inc., won the Champion and 1st Runner-up titles respectively in the Sponsors & Guests Division. Mr. Jonathan C. Diokno of BDO Unibank, Inc. was declared 2nd Runner-up in the same division.

Ms. Connie Mamaril of Regent Travel Corporation/ Philippine Maritime Travel Agents Association (PMTAA) champed the Women’s Division. Ms. Lenore M.V. M. Quijano of Barko International, Inc. and Ms. Carmen B. Rebusi of IMS Philippines Maritime Corp. were ranked 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up respectively.

It was fairly stiff competition for the Men’s Division but Capt. Jimmy R. Boado of Grace Marine & Shipping Corp. bested the Class-A category as he claimed the title spot. Capt. Banny B. Briones of Multinational Maritime, Inc. came close in 1st Runner-up and C/E Shogo Yamada of NYK-Fil Ship Management, Inc. was 2nd Runner-up. For the Class-B category, Capt. Donato P. Marfil of Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. won the Champion award, followed by Mr. Vicente A. Pono of Magsaysay MOL Ship Management, Inc. as 1st Runner-up and C/E Rodolfo Bautista of MST Marine Services (Phils.), Inc. as 2nd Runner-up. Mr. Martial Lawrence L. Francia of CF Sharp Crew Management Inc. topped the Class-C category, while Dr. Jose Emmanuel Gonzales of Bibby Ship Management Philippines, Inc. and Capt. Constantino Arcellana of Norden Shipping were in second and third spots accordingly. The Class-D category top honor went to Mr. Manuel V. David of Western Shipping Southeast Asia, Inc. while Atty. Erwin F. Pobre of C.S.C. Manila, Inc. bagged the 1st Runner-up award and Capt. Juanito Salvatierra Jr. of Philippine Association of Manning Agencies& Ship ManagersInc. (PAMAS) secured the 2nd Runner-up title.

For the Over-All Champions, Capt. Honorio Casalme of Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. and Mr. Jones Tulod of TSM Shipping (Phils.), Inc. finished with highest scores winning the Low Net and Low Gross awards respectively. C/E Paul Bagalay of Univan Management Services Phil., Inc., Mr. Jonathan C. Diokno of BDO Unibank, Inc., Mr. Ricardo V. Loyola of Vestland Maritime Corporation, Capt. Jimmy R. Boado of Grace Marine & Shipping Corp., Mr. Tata Callora of Headway Seacrest Group Inc. and Capt. Marcelo R. Rañeses of Dolphin Ship Management, Inc. individually won in the 2 on 2 Putts competition.

The Philippine Team, composed of Mr. Jones Tulod of TSM Shipping (Phils.), Inc., Capt. Honorio Casalme of Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. and Capt. Banny B. Briones of Multinational Maritime, Inc., were once again declared Champions for the FAME Ryder Cup, marking the team’s fourth consecutive year for the particular award. The Japanese Team, which included Capt. Tsutomu Harada of Grace Marine & Shipping Corp., Capt. Tetsuya Suzuki of IMS Philippines Maritime Corp. and C/E Shogo Yamada NYK-Fil Ship Management, Inc., and the International Team, combined of Mr. Nam Hang Joo of Parola Maritime Agency Corp., Mr. Geir Wingsternes of Southfield Agencies, Inc. and Mr. Kjell Hjartnes of CF Sharp Crew Management Inc. were declared 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up consequently.

FAME is so much happy to see our golf participants come back each year to be part of this annual golf event and thus to recognize these loyal golfers this year, FAME awarded eleven (11) Hall of FAMErs namely Ms. Lenore M.V. Bernardo (CF Sharp Crew Management Inc.), Mr. Geronimo Caidic (CF Sharp Crew Management Inc.), Capt. Tetsuya Suzuki (IMS Philippines Maritime Corp.), Capt. Victor S. Del Prado (Klaveness Maritime Agency, Inc.), Capt. Constantino Arcellana (Norden Shipping), C/E Shogo Yamada (NYK-Fil Ship Management, Inc.), Capt. Donato P. Marfil (Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc.), Mr. Geir Wingsternes (Southfield Agencies, Inc.). The Hall of FAMErs award is given to players who has completed four (4) years of participation in the FAME annual golf tournament.
