The Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment, Inc. (FAME) held its 1st FAME General Membership Meeting for the year 2012 last 23 February 2012 at the 3rd Floor, Le Salon I & II, Hyatt Hotel & Casino Manila. Constituting a quorum of eighty two (82) out of one hundred twenty one (121) representatives from member-companies, the assembly was presided by the newly elected president of the Association for the year 2012-2013; Mr. Jose Albar G. Kato.

The occasion was graced by the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary, Roberto Carlos Vallarino Moreno of Embassy of the Republic of Panama-Philippines as Guest of Honor. His message centered on the introduction of the newly established system of Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) which authorized a training center that will assess and issue Panamanian counterpart licenses to Filipino seafarers, both for ratings and officers.

It was also an opportunity to introduce to the general membership the new set of JMG Officers and Committees for 2012 and the existing and future undertakings of JMG for the maritime industry under the new leadership.

It has been an observed exercise to award certification of membership to the new member-companies during this event. This time FAME recognized and awarded its new members namely OSTE Crewing Phils., Inc. and PACC Shipping Phils., Inc.

Furthermore, FAME gave updates on the Association’s participations on initiatives and undertakings on maritime industry issues and concerns.

The general membership meeting is an occasion for FAME members to be united and be informed on matters concerning the industry.
