True to its aim of promoting physical fitness consciousness among Filipino seafarers and other industry stakeholders as well as strengthening the value of solidarity and unity as members of the maritime sector, the second staging of FAME FUN RUN “Go Marino Go! Healthy Body! Healthy Mind! ” in celebration of the National Maritime Week took off at six in the morning at SM Mall of Asia, IMAX Open Parking, Bay City, Pasay last 23 September 2007.

The race begun as Ms. Arleen Asuncion, Co-Chairman of Special Projects & Events Committee, fired the starting gun that flagged off an approximately 2000 registered runners drawn from the manning companies, maritime schools, maritime associations, training centers, running clubs, private companies, government offices and individuals who in one way or another shared the passion for the joy of running.

Gloomy skies, slight wind and moderate temperature greeted the race field of 3K, 5K and 10K runners with the dream of winning the competition. The weather condition did not dampen the runners’ spirit as they started with a morning exercise or stretching routine led by Ms. Connie Fortich from Absolute Work Out, Inc. before the race.

During the competition, the runners boosted their energy as they run vigorously to come back to the starting point. Other runners who completed the race showed the joy of running through the finish line rather than competing against each other.

To bring more fun and amusement, a surprise colorful dance presentation or ATI-ATIHAN exhibition from Wallem Maritime Services, Inc, was gracefully performed which entertained all the participants.

This event was graced by the participation of ever-supportive and dynamic members of the Special Projects & Events Committee headed by Mr. Marlon Roño and the presence of some Officers of Board of Directors led by the President himself Engr. Sammuel T. Lim followed by Capt. Teodoro Quijano, Capt. Reynaldo Casareo, and Mr. James E. Nicoll.

In order to ensure orderly and systematic results of the competition, FAME assigned a Technical Committee led by Race Director Mr. Lawrence Trinidad from the Absolute Work Out, Inc. The Technical Committee was at that day recognized as the decision-making body responsible solely for tabulating and evaluating the point scores of the runners, declaring the official winners and other technical matters.

During the awarding ceremony, cash prizes, medals, trophies were awarded to all the victorious runners while raffle premium items were given to the lucky holders of winning race numbers. Congratulations to the following winners:
