It’s a fortunate day that the sun stood still despite the threat of rains during the 7th FAME Inter-Manning Badminton Tournament which was held last 28 July 2012. The excitement for this event was proved when overflowing crowd filled up the auditorium of the Powersmash Badminton Court, Pasong Tamo, Makati City. With 314 registered participants we have surpassed last year’s record, making a new record for most participants to join the tournament. It just goes to show that the support for this event is just growing each and every year.

Registration started as early as 7:00am and soon followed by the opening ceremonies. Ms. Jennifer Sibayan of OSM Maritime Services Inc. led the invocation and Engr. Sammuel T. Lim, the Co-Chairman of the Special Projects and Events Committee gave the Opening Remarks. Mr. Jose Albar G. Kato, President of FAME and Smart Communications, Inc., led by their Senior Sales Manager, Mr. Bernard Santos, delivered a short message. Next in the program was the Declaration of Oath of Sportsmanship which was led by Mr. Felix Oca from the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP).

After the Tournament Guidelines were explained, anticipation filled the air as crowd cheered when the ceremonial toss was executed. This was graced by Mr. Jose Albar G. Kato, FAME President, Engr. Sammuel T. Lim, FAME Director, Mr. Bernard Santos of Smart Communications, Inc. and Ms. Nancy Ebron Member of the Special Projects and Events Committee.
