The 2012 FAME Annual General Membership Meeting, was held last 18 October 2012. The Ballroom of Diamond Hotel Philippines, Roxas Blvd. Corner Dr. J. Quintos St., Manila, served as the venue where this year’s accomplishments and future undertakings of the Association were discussed for the welfare of the industry as a whole.

Providing updates on the present issues and concerns of the industry, the Guest of Honor, Hans Leo J. Cacdac of Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), underscored the key issues in the implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) of 2006, the current progress of the Maritime Industry Tripartite Council (MITC) as well as the recent POEA Anti-Illegal Recruitment Campaign in Luneta among other matters.

On the other hand, the Banco De Oro (BDO), one of the steadfast partners of FAME, gave a very timely and informative economic brief.

The Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment, Inc. (FAME) president, Mr. Jose Albar G. Kato, expressed his gratitude to the FAME officers and Board of Directors, Committee Chairmen and the general membership for the commitment, efforts, and active participation in his leadership. He stressed in his message that the unparalleled and successful programs of FAME were made possible by the trust and support from the members, stakeholders, and related government agencies. He assured that the Association will take full responsibility and accountability of this trust.

Further, proving the Association’s accountability and prudent stewardship of its finances, the FAME treasurer, Capt. Emmanuel L. Regio, presented a transparent report of the Association’s amount financial status that is stable and competitive at par with the economy’s demands.

Lastly, the sum of FAME’s efforts, undertakings from November 2011 to October 2012, and current initiatives were ratified by the general membership unanimously.
