08 December 2009- The Filipino Association for Mariner’s Employment (FAME) held its Year- End Get Together and Christmas Party as well as the Induction of the Newly Elected Officers and Board of Directors for 2009-2011. The venue of the said gathering was at the Grand Ballroom of Hyatt Hotel & Casino Manila in Malate, Manila.

A meaningful year-end get together for the pillars and players of the Philippine manning industry who made it flourishing for the Philippines to be considered the no. 1 provider of seafarers in the Maritime industry in the world. The event was graced by prominent guests from the government agencies, Association’s industry partners and members who are always supportive to the Association and in its endeavors.

Undersecretary for Maritime Transport Thompson C. Lantion of Department of Transportation & Communication (DOTC) and Administrator Carmelita S. Dimzon of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) gave short meaningful messages for the Association while Administrator Jennifer J. Manalili of Philippine Overseas Administration (POEA) served as the Induction Officers and instilled a very remarkable inspirational message for the new leaders of the Association.

It was a night of lots of fun for the Officers, Board of Directors, Guests and Members who were serenaded by soloists, musical bands and chorale groups that made the night more relaxing and enjoyable. Of course, no Christmas party is complete without games and raffles which made the winners thrilled because of the fabulous prizes that were given away courtesy of Virjen Shipping Corp., Yan ang Marino Show of NBN Channel 4, Western Union and its loyal benefactors including SMART Communications Inc., BPI, UCPB San Andres Branch and BDO Taft Avenue Branch.

The New President, Mr. Ericson M. Marquez gave an inspiring and promising message not only for the Association but also for the Manning Industry in the country. Mr. Marquez also presented a video clip that commemorated on how FAME started with back track of past and present Presidents, Officers and Board of Directors who unselfishly dedicated their ideas, hardworks, times and efforts to achieved so many milestones in 34 years of the Association in the industry.

The Association with the new set of competent leaders and dedicated staffs are looking forward for more endeavors, meaningful and fruitful years for the industry. FAME is considered the largest Sea based manning association in the country. Indeed, FAME is true to its values “Working Together with Industry towards Excellence”.
