“Getting Better, Tougher Together” is the exact word FAME can be described now a days. Notwithstanding the numerous challenges the Philippine Seafaring Industry has been facing, FAME stand still and continuously has a bigger niche in consistently ensuring the competency of the Filipino seafarers within the international standards as its collective response to the challenges of globalization.

Yes, the Association is indeed an ally of the government, foreign principals, seafarers and all stakeholders not only for the welfare of the maritime industry but as well as in different phase of life. It was no doubt when an estimated of more than 150 invited guests both from member-companies, government agencies, press and manning associations gathered to celebrate the Induction of Officers and Board of Directors for 2005-2006 and Christmas Party of the Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment, Inc.

The Polkabal Ballroom of the historic Manila Hotel in Luneta Park, Manila was filled up on Tuesday, 06 December 2005 at sixth in the evening for the celebration of the affair. Unlike in the previous years, this year’s celebration was indeed a consequential and divergent one, as it turned out to have a lot of fun, highlighted by fun games and raffle of prizes as well as exchange of gifts between the member-companies. Ever energetic and hard-working FAME Director, Eng’r. Sammuel T. Lim hosted the affair assisted by another Director Mr. Jose Albar G. Kato who served as the Game Master.

The night was made special with the presence of the Secretary of the department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Patricia A. Sto Tomas who was the Inducting Officer and Guest Speaker of the event. Other officers from different government agencies, heads of different manning associations also joined the event.

The set of Officers and Board of Directors for 2005-2006 that were inducted are: Ms. Josephine J. Francisco (President), Commo. Adonis B. Donato (VP-Internal Affairs), Capt. Teodoro B. Quijano (VP-External Affairs), Mr. Marlon R. Roño (Secretary), Mr. James E. Nicoll (Treasurer), Mr. Vicente F. Aldanese, Jr. (Director), Capt. Lou A. Atienza (Director), Capt. Vicente J. Brillantes (Director), Capt. Alfonso R. Del Castillo (Director), Capt. Victor S. Del Prado (Director), Mr. Michael J. Estaniel (Director), Capt. Jose M. Mangabat (Director), Capt. Reynaldo D. casareo (Director), Mr. Jose Albar G. Kato (Director), and Engr. Sammuel T. Lim (Director).

Subsequently with the Induction of Officers and Board of Directors, the Association headed by its president Ms. Josephine J. Francisco awarded the Plaque of Appreciation and the same time a token to Secretary Patricia A. Sto. Tomas.

One such number, which caught the attention of the guests, are the operatic songs rendered by Mr. Camille Lopez – Molina and Company from the UP, College of Music. The Marino Idols/ Choirs, an ensemble of talented officers and crew from various manning companies also rendered their own rendition of a number of Christmas songs. Another number, which added to the enjoyment of the affair, is when the OSM Band rendered rock and love songs headed by untiring Commo. Adonis B. Donato.

More companies such as Recharge Plus Philippines, Smart Communications, Inc., Magsaysay Travel Tours, Adventure International, Inc., Equitable PCI Bank, Professional Gear, Inc., and Transnational E-Business Professional Gear, Inc. and other sponsors supported the affair. The prizes of fun games and raffle of prizes would not have been possible without the help of these generous sponsors. Some of the major prizes that were raffled off are two (2) units 21-inch Television Set, five (5) units Ipods and two (2) round trip tickets Manila-Hongkong-Manila.

Of course, it is not a finale, as this is only a start for FAME getting tougher to continuously put the Philippines in the world map of seafaring as a major supplier of highly competent crew.
