On 18 February 2005, the Maritime Symposium on NIS Seafarers Documentary Requirements, Processes and Certification was held at the AMOSUP Convention Hall, Seamen’s Center Building. 

The event was attended by ten (10) Accredited Norwegian Medical Clinics and Doctors; twenty-six (26) manning companies with NIS Vessels; twelve (12) other interested manning companies; six (6) government agency representatives and seven (7) other invited guests. 

This seminar was made especial by the presence of Ms. Trine Joranli, Charge’ d’affaires of Royal Norwegian Embassy Manila. 

The seminar was highlighted with the following topics: 

-Regulation Documentation regarding Bilateral Agreement and Health Requirements: With Past and Present into the Future By: CAPT. PER O. MEEK Assistant Director, Norwegian Maritime Directorate 

-Regulation and Requirements By: CAPT. HELGE EIK Senior Principal Surveyor, Norwegian Maritime Directorate 

-Requirements for NIS Vessels By: MR. ODD MAGNE SKEI Norwegian Training Center/Norwegian Shipowners Association 

-Current Issues on Filipino Crew Claims By: ATTY. RUBEN T. DEL ROSARIO Managing Director, Del Rosario Pandiphil, Inc. 

An Open Forum after each topic was conducted to clarify various issues. The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Marlon R. Roño and FAME Vice-President for Internal Affairs, Commo. Adonis B. Donato moderated the open forum. 

Indeed having this kind of fruitful activity ensures the industry of better performance and relationship with other flagships.
